We are delighted to share that Lanie Wasserman has been promoted to the newly created role of Director of Lending and Special Initiatives at NeighborWorks Capital. Since joining our team in 2021, Lanie has played an integral role in advancing our mission. She first served as Senior Loan Officer before stepping in as Interim Chief Lending Officer, where she guided our lending team with steadiness and vision through a period of transition.
Lanie brings more than 18 years of experience in commercial real estate, construction lending, and affordable housing finance, with a strong background in CDFIs. Before joining NeighborWorks Capital, Lanie was VP of Originations at First Housing, a HUD multifamily lender and lead underwriter of 4% and 9% LIHTC transactions in Florida. She also served as SVP/Senior Lender for a Tampa-based CDFI, where she partnered with banks to fund affordable housing developments throughout the state of Florida. Earlier in her career, she launched IFF’s Wisconsin office, expanding the Chicago-based organization’s presence in the Midwest and deploying loans and New Markets Tax Credits into projects to catalyze investment in low-income communities.
In this new role, Lanie will lead the expansion of NeighborWorks Capital’s lending reach and develop innovative loan products in response to customer needs. She will also oversee our partnership with National Equity Fund to expand network access to LIHTC equity with standardized terms and create opportunities for members through the Federal Home Loan Bank’s Affordable Housing Program.
Lanie has already proven herself as an innovative and thoughtful leader. Her expertise in affordable housing finance and her ability to collaborate with partners across the network make her the ideal person to help us expand our lending and deliver new solutions that respond to the needs of our customers.
We are thrilled to have Lanie step into this expanded leadership role and look forward to the continued impact she will make in helping our partners strengthen communities and advance their missions.
