Our team recently came together for a much-anticipated staff gathering at our offices in Silver Spring, MD. The event was filled with meaningful conversations, thoughtful workshops, and plenty of opportunities for us to connect in person. The two-day retreat included a strategic planning session, a neighborhood mural tour in DC, and time together to strengthen relationships across our team. Here’s a recap of our time together.
Strategic Planning for the Future
We kicked things off with a strategic planning session, allowing us to look ahead and align on key goals and objectives for the coming years. The session gave everyone a chance to contribute ideas, reflect on our organization’s mission, and think critically about how we can support the work of the NeighborWorks America network and further our impact on affordable housing and community development. By engaging in thoughtful discussions, we walked away with a clearer vision and a stronger sense of direction as a team.
Exploring DC’s Vibrant Street Art
In the spirit of community, we stepped outside the meeting room to explore the vibrant art culture of Washington, D.C. through a mural tour with DC Mural Tour. As we walked through the streets, we were able to experience the power of public art firsthand—each mural telling a story of creativity, identity, and resilience. The tour was not only a chance to appreciate the beauty around us, but also a reminder of the importance of artistic expression in fostering strong, dynamic communities.
Reconnecting and Reenergizing
Our staff gathering was a powerful reminder of the importance of collaboration, and creativity in the work that we do. With a renewed sense of purpose and stronger connections to one another, we are excited to take the insights from this retreat and apply them to our future initiatives.
