NeighborWorks Capital is deeply saddened at the passing of our former CEO, Jim Ferris. Jim was the CEO of our organization from 2007 to 2022 and had a tremendous impact.  He was part of our industry for 40 years.

Before leading NeighborWorks Capital, Jim served as Senior Director, National Initiatives at Fannie Mae Foundation, overseeing strategies for supporting nonprofit affordable housing preservation. He held the position of Executive Director of Bellwether Housing in Seattle and Codman Square Neighborhood Development in Boston. Earlier in his career, he held accounting and finance positions with private real estate developers and institutional real estate investors.

He participated in various industry advisory committees focused on affordable housing finance and lending. Jim served as Chair of the Board of Neighborhood Risk Management Corporation, a property and liability insurance program for NeighborWorks affiliates, and Board Director of Coalition Homes, a Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless affiliate.

Jim had a tremendous impact during his career, and his work improved the lives of countless families and individuals. The NeighborWorks Capital team mourns Jim’s passing and will remain grateful for his leadership and friendship.
